ഇന്ത്യക്ക് കോമൺവെൽത്ത് ഗെയിംസ് വനിതാ ഹോക്കി കിരീടം നേടിക്കൊടുത്ത പരിശീലകൻ കൂടിയാണ് ഗുർദിയാൽ സിങ്. 2002-ലെ മാഞ്ചെസ്റ്റർ ഗെയിംസിലായിരുന്നു ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ചരിത്രനേട്ടം. ഫൈനലിൽ ആതിഥേയരായ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെയാണ് ഇന്ത്യ അന്ന് വീഴ്ത്തിയത്.
രാജ്യം ദ്യോണാചാര്യ പുരസ്‌കാരം നൽകി ആദരിച്ചു. 2007-ലെ ഷാരൂഖ് ഖാൻ നായകനായ ബോളിവുഡ് സിനിമ ‘ചക് ദേ ഇന്ത്യ’ പറയുന്നത് ഗുർദിയാൽ സിങിന്റെ കഥയാണ്.
